Swarm Robotics Research

Swarm robotics is an approach to manage a robot system that consists of large numbers of simple physical robots to accomplish tasks that one single robot cannot perform on its own. Different sensors help the robots communicate while working on a particular mission.

Research about swarm robotics is relatively resent. A simple Google search shown a huge amount of data related to such subject. Many different areas of swarm robotics have been covered through extensive research all over the globe.

After reading some of the articles about Swarm robotics I realized that it has been created and affected by the field of artificial swarm intelligence. Moreover, biological studies of insects and ants -where swarm behavior exists- had a great affect on the direction of swarm robotics research.
